Programming Robots Study Group – Hardware Lab

Robots are coming! Let’s be ready to BUILD them 🙂

We’ve launched a forum! Find interesting and informative robotics talk on Join the FUN!

Hardware Lab 3, continued.

• We’ll continue work on the hardware for our ROS ROV.

Bring a PC AND an Arduino. See our wiki for questions.

Building a wheel encoder circuit using a miniature reflective object sensor

A wheel encoder tracks rotation of a wheel. This is important in navigation and especially for driving in a straight line. We have a digital QRE1113 in the kit. Alternately, you can order one from Sparkfun. We’ll plan to use this for a wheel encoder, but it can also be used for line following. The result will be a wheel encoder circuit for use with the Teensy 2.0 Arduino.
